Multi-instrumentalist / Composer / Producer / Author - Jeff Peretz was born in Newark NJ in 1968. He is the author of Zen And The Art Of Guitar, Guitar Atlas: The Middle East, and Guitar Atlas: Cuba (Alfred Publishing). As a performer, Jeff has performed as a sideman with a varied group of artists including the Grammy nominated Latin Funk group Yerba Buena, Eric Alexander, Simon Kirke and Oscar winning actor Tim Robbins. He is also the founder, leader, and composer for the Arabic / Jazz group Abu Gara. His other group, the Jeff Peretz Group has shared the stage with The Fugees, The Groove Collective, and Brooklyn Funk Essentials.

Jeff's guitar, ud, bass playing, and arranging are often sought out by Grammy-winning producers Mark Ronson, Rock Wilder and Joe "Flip" Wilson on projects for artists such as Jay-Z, Rev. Run of RUN DMC, Pink, Mary J Blige and Salt-n-Peppa. He has produced albums for Hysterics, The Middle Eight, The Ellis Unit and The Amygdaloids and he is currently co-producing The Americans' debut featuring the Dap King's horn section. He has composed and produced music for off-Broadway (Why We Don't Bomb the Amish - 2003), film (The Rebound - 2008, Driving Lesson - 2007, Purple Violets - 2007), and television (Lucille Roberts).

Jeff is also the founder and director of the Electric Guitar Performance Program at Third Street Music School Settlement and a faculty member of The Clive Davis Dept. of Recorded Music at New York University, The New School University and the National Guitar Workshop where he teaches the World Guitar Styles Seminar. He has also been the private guitar coach of Michael J. Fox, Edward Burns, Tim Robbins, Mark Ronson, and Jann Wenner.

Jeff attended Berklee College of Music before finishing his studies in Jazz Performance at William Paterson University. He currently lives in Brooklyn with his dog Prince.
