Since producing the debut album for the Jeff Peretz Group - Vitality of Expression - in 1993, Jeff has been involved in the studio with many different projects in several different capacities. A pioneer of the Hip-Hop / Jazz movement of the early 90s as the leader of Inner Urge, Jeff experimented early on with blending samples, loops and digital information with carefully recorded acoustic and electric instruments.
Along with recording partner Steve Rossiter of Axis Sound, Jeff is constantly sought after to add his touch to all kinds of recordings. Together they are known for their command of traditional recording techniques and ideas as well as for their proficiency with modern digital recording. Jeff has produced albums for Hysterics, The Middle Eight, The Amygdaloids, The Ellis Unit, and most recently The Americans.
Jeff is also currently developing several young artists including Jones <myspace.com/jonesocracy>, Grace Kalambay <myspace.com/somegrace> whose song "Ordinary Sentiment" is featured in the Ed Burns film Purple Violets, The Tangents <myspace.com/thetangentsnyc>, Selma Ahmed <myspace.com/selmaahmed>, and Sissy Clemens <myspace.com/sissyclemens>. Also look for the Jeff Peretz-produced song "Love, Pass It On" by The Middle Eight to appear in the Bart Freundlich-directed feature film The Rebound starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, due out this summer.
Aside form his work producing bands, Jeff also composed and produced the sound track to the short film A Driving Lesson, the theme song for the Yoga website www.downloadfacingdog.com, as well as the music for several television commercials. Jeff also re-entered the studio with Hysterics to start their second record, this time at the famed Headgear Studios <www.headgearrecording.com> in Williamsburg.
In addition to his role behind the board, Jeff is still an available and active sideman recording with producers Joe "Flip" Wilson, Mark Ronson, Rock Wilder and The Drop Zone.
